A new Heir to the Throne? Carnival ‘Queen Mother’ Nominations await!

A brand new addition to this year’s Carnival due to popular demand!

This year, we are seeking nominations for Bridgnorth Town Carnival’s very first Carnival Queen Mother. This is an opportunity for you to nominate someone who has achieved something, overcome something or just because you think they are worthy of such a prestigious title! You can choose whether to tell the person that you are nominating them, or it can be a complete surprise….

The only catches are that they must be over 18 years old, and have a WV15 or WV16 postcode.

Closing date for applications is Friday 28th April and all entrants will be invited to attend a Crowning Ceremony in the Town Hall on Monday 22nd May during the evening.

Carnival Royalty Applications – Now Available

Would you like to become the next Bridgnorth Carnival Queen, Prince or Princess? Or do you know of someone who would?

We are now accepting applications for this year’s Carnival Royalty and application forms can be downloaded on the following link:

This year’s categories are as follows:

Carnival Queen (Secondary School – 11-16 year olds)
Junior Carnival Prince (Primary School – 8-11 year olds)
Junior Carnival Princess (Primary School – 8-11 year olds)
Infant Carnival Prince (Primary School – 4-7 year olds)
Infant Carnival Princess (Primary School – 4-7 year olds)

All applicants must have a WV15 or WV16 postcode or attend a school within the Bridgnorth town boundary.

On Carnival Day, our Carnival Royalty will have pride of place in our procession and will be asked to go on stage to make presentations to the winning procession entries alongside the Mayor. They will also be invited to take part in other functions throughout the year, such as the Christmas Lights turn on.

Carnival Royalty must be available from 10.30am on Saturday 24th June until around 4pm.

All entrants will be invited to the Carnival Crowning Ceremony taking place in the Town Hall taking place on Monday .

The closing date for applications is Friday 28th April 2017. Please remember to enclose a recent photograph with any applications.

St. George’s Day Celebrations – Booking Forms Now Available

To celebrate all things English for St. George’s Day, we are now welcoming applications for stalls selling English produce, performers and caterers to join us in the Castle Grounds on Sunday 23rd April from 12 noon to 4pm. The event will feature walkabout acts, circus skills, face painting, bouncy castle, small funfair and lots of family fun.

Christmas Lighting Up Night awarded Best Small Speciality Market!

Bridgnorth has won the Best Small Speciality Market at the National Market Awards yesterday for the Christmas Lighting Up Event. Promoted by the National Association of British Market Authorities (NABMA) and sponsored by KPR Midlink Ltd the categories were judged by the Director of Stoke Markets, the Editor of Market Trader News, KPR Midlink and the Past President of  NABMA. The judges made the following comments when announcing the award presented by Andrew Percy MP, Minister for markets “The winner of this category links Markets, local food and craft promotion,, a fun fair and evening programme of entertainment crammed into its traditional high street. It full involves its local community, is provided on a very limited budget and has grown to become an event of county wide significance. It is the highlight of the local winter calendar; it unites the community, provides a recipe for success that many can learn from and delivers an excellent event through a very strong partnership”

Bridgnorth Town Carnival 2017!

You can now register your interest to take part in this year’s Bridgnorth Town Carnival; taking place on Saturday 24th June 2017.

As usual, the procession will leave at 12pm from Nock Deighton’s Livestock & Auction Centre before making its way through the town and onto Severn Park.

There are opportunities to join in the procession, have a stall on Severn Park, perform in the arena or on stage, provide an attraction at the event, volunteer on the day or sponsor the event.

As a free community event, we rely on the support of local organisations and businesses to provide a fun and enjoyable event which people return to each year. It is also a great opportunity to advertise your business or organisation as we receive thousands of visitors and provide promotional opportunities.

Christmas Lighting Up Night – 18th November

Christmas Lighting Up Night – 18th November

Join us for an evening of festivities in Bridgnorth High Street from 4pm on Friday 18th November. A variety of stalls, entertainment, attractions and of course Father Christmas and his reindeer await you.

With performances from Bridgnorth Primary Schools Choir, our four local Primary Schools, Galaxy Dance, plus other local talented groups, this is an evening not to be missed!

Please note, there will be no parking in the High Street from 12 noon. We would appreciate your co-operation in this matter to ensure the smooth running and health and safety aspects of the set up of the event.

The ever popular Teddy Bears’ Picnic is taking place on Wednesday 27th July from 11am to 2pm. As usual, there will be puppet shows, a small funfair, face painting, bouncy castle, ice creams and this year, Dudley Zoo will be joining us with some of their animals!

St. George’s Day Market & Parade – 23rd April 2016

Following the success of last year’s event, Bridgnorth Town Events is pleased to announce that St. George’s Day will be celebrated once again and this year, on St. George’s Day!

The procession will be commencing at 12 noon from Crown Meadow, Victoria Road, through town and into the Castle Grounds. Everyone is welcome to join in and we ask that any participants who drive to Crown Meadow refrain from parking in this area due to the procession route and residents who also park in this area. There will be a rolling road closure in place and we ask for your patience from 12 noon to ensure the safety of those in the procession. Fancy dress is welcome!

Once in the Castle Grounds, expect English delights from stall holders, local businesses and community groups. Entertainment will be taking place in the Bandstand during the afternoon together with a circus skills workshop, bouncy castle and face painting.
