Sunday Handmade Market – Dates for 2018!

The ever popular Bridgnorth Sunday Handmade Market has now released its dates for 2018!

Find them under the Town Hall on the following dates to see a selection of local Artists, Crafters and Makers, Artisan Produce and Vintage Goods. As you can see, some of the markets coincide with other events taking place in the town to provide a fantastic atmosphere.

Another year is over and we can’t wait to see what 2018 will bring!

The Times They Are a-Changin’…. Bridgnorth Town Carnival 2018

Bridgnorth’s biggest free one day community event returns on Saturday 23rd June 2018 with a new start time!

Following an open meeting where residents and businesses were invited to have their say, it was agreed that the Carnival procession would now commence at 1.30pm instead of 12 noon. Severn Park will still play host to an array of entertainment, stalls and refreshments through until 10pm.

Christmas Lighting Up Night – 17th November 2017

Applications are now closed for stalls and catering pitches at this year’s Christmas Lighting Up Night taking place on Friday 17th November from 4pm – 9pm in Bridgnorth High Street due to such a fantastic response!

In partnership with Shropshire Council, there will be FREE parking in the following long stay car parks from 2pm on Friday 17th November to support the Christmas Lighting Up Event:

Innage Lane
Smithfield Road
Severn Street

Due to the great British weather, the Teddy Bears’ Picnic scheduled for Wednesday 26th July has been postponed. A new date will be circulated shortly.

Like many towns Bridgnorth will be celebrating Armed Forces Day this year.  The national celebration will be taking place in Liverpool.

Although Armed Forces Day is Saturday 24th June, this year Bridgnorth will be holding its flag raising ceremony on Monday 19th June which will commence at 10.30am in the Castle Grounds.

The 51st Bridgnorth Walk takes place on Bank Holiday Monday, 29th May starting and finishing in Bridgnorth High Street, where there will be a Market, refreshments and children’s entertainment whilst the walkers are welcomed home.

Bridgnorth Town Carnival – Application Forms Now Available!

Application forms to be a part of Bridgnorth’s biggest one day free community event are now available!

This year, the Carnival is taking place on Saturday 24th June from 12 noon, starting with our procession which will arrive on Severn Park, Bridgnorth from 1.45pm.

Procession Entry

If you would like to enter into our procession with a float, walking entry or show vehicle, please click here.

Entry into the procession is free and guidance can be found on the above form. We welcome entries from groups, organisations, businesses, groups of friends, schools, youth groups and individuals! Your entry can be as simple or as creative as you like and it is a great way to fundraise or promote yourselves.

Stalls

Caterers

Performers

If you would like to perform in the arena or on stage at the event, please click here

On the day, we will have family entertainment in the arena and on stage, followed by live music until 10pm. We welcome applications from any talented members of our community to perform alongside our scheduled arena events.

This is a great way to showcase your talents, recruit members to your group or promote yourselves on one of Bridgnorth’s biggest stages.

Sponsorship

Bridgnorth Town Carnival relies on the support of our community to provide this free event for the town and its visitors. There are many sponsorship opportunities, big and small, from the provision of first aid to supplying our volunteers with high viz jackets on the day!

Sponsors will feature on any advertising material we use together with a free pitch on Severn Park to continue to promote your business or organisation.

Volunteers

Without the help of our fantastic volunteers, we would not be able to provide you with our fantastic Carnival! If you have an hour or more to spare on Carnival Day, please contact the Town Council. Opportunities range from setting up the Carnival field, marshaling road closures, assisting visitors on the Carnival field, helping our performers on and off stage to litter picking. Hours range from 8am right through to the end of the event, and we are grateful for any offers of assistance no matter how big or small.

Volunteering can support University Applications, Duke of Edinburgh Awards and looks great on a CV so please get in touch on events@bridgnorthtowncouncil.gov.uk if you would like to be involved.

Refreshments will be provided throughout the day and gives you front row seats to our event!

A new Heir to the Throne? Carnival ‘Queen Mother’ Nominations await!

A brand new addition to this year’s Carnival due to popular demand!

This year, we are seeking nominations for Bridgnorth Town Carnival’s very first Carnival Queen Mother. This is an opportunity for you to nominate someone who has achieved something, overcome something or just because you think they are worthy of such a prestigious title! You can choose whether to tell the person that you are nominating them, or it can be a complete surprise….

The only catches are that they must be over 18 years old, and have a WV15 or WV16 postcode.

Closing date for applications is Friday 28th April and all entrants will be invited to attend a Crowning Ceremony in the Town Hall on Monday 22nd May during the evening.
