Bridgnorth Open House Arts Trail – 9th-10th June

People visiting Bridgnorth will have the opportunity to see a breath-taking collection of artwork when the town hosts its debut Open House Arts Trail next month.

Taking place on Saturday 9 and Sunday 10 June, the trail will see the instillation of high-end art in 30 houses and venues of historical interest across the picturesque market town.

Works on display will include paintings, sculpture, ceramics, textiles, jewellery, metalwork and glass from a number of local and professional artists.

Tickets for the trail are available to buy on the day from under the town hall arches and cost £5 per person, admission is free for under 16s. Each ticket includes entry to all exhibition venues, with a map showing where to find them.

Proceeds from ticket sales will go to the Bridgnorth Community First Responders charity.

Artists confirmed so far include Andy Sylvester, Caroline Bennett, Keri Jones, Mary Castellan, Kaby Bitten, Sheila Laurens, Vicki Norman, Tania Holland, Annie Stokes, Pete Hardwick, Nicola Rowe, Matthew Arnold and Sandra Phillips.

Also confirmed are Nicola Haigh, Alan Murphy, Phil Langstaff, Sue Mulcock, Amanda Hillier-Wiggins, Sandy Densem, Maggie Humphries, Maggie Davis, Eddie Eynon, Yvette Appleby, Lou Mitchell, Delny Fitrzyk, Caroline Clayton, Jenny O’Leary, Stephen Law, Paul Hopkins and Rob Leckey.

Local artist Matthew Arnold, whose work features in the trail, said

“The open house weekend is about bringing the love of art and architecture together and it’s an honour to be playing a small role by including two of my paintings.

“Many of the venues displaying work are not usually open to the public so it also gives people a unique chance to enter some of the town’s most beautiful and historic buildings whilst helping to raise money for a very important charity.”
